Fingers Crossed for Next Year
I was so excited this year. I had been accepted as a professional at Dragon Con - a big milestone for my career as a writer. I've been going to Dragon Con for years, to be included among their professionals is a badge of honor that means a lot to me.
Unfortunately, lymphoma got me. After going through my first round of chemotherapy this month, I realized there was no way I would be able to attend Dragon Con. The treatment left me wiped out and feeling exhausted. I can barely bring myself to write, let alone make public appearances.
I sent them my notice today that I would be unable to attend. I'm a little bit heartbroken, keeping my fingers crossed for next year's event. Hopefully, by then I'll be healthy, strong, and ready to take on the world again.
If you're attending Dragon Con this year, have a drink for me. Eat somewhere fabulous. See an amazing panel. I'll be thinking of you from the recovery of my sofa at home.
